3 MILLION CHIP MAN

Brodeur Bags the Lead

The last hour of Day 3 play is very kind to Yanick Brodeur (Montreal, Canada), who seizes the WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship lead with a little more than 3 million chips. "I was really fortunate in a span of 10 or 20 hands and took advantage," says the predominantly cash heavy player.

Brodeur goes from 500k to 1 million with pocket aces, shortly followed by pocket kings and finally ace, king pushes him over 3 mill. "It was a good time to run well. It was a long day, but a fun day," he says adding, "I'm looking forward to tomorrow (Wednesday)."

Play wraps just before 11 PM, much earlier than expected, as the remaining 27 players return at 11 AM to continue playing for the top prize of $925,000.

"I play to win," says Kenny "Super Tuan" Nguyen who tanks with (Q Q) and eventually calls James "Smiley" Chin's 387k all-in. Chin has (A K), but is eliminated when a 9 falls on the river to give Tuan a king-high straight. "This is going to be fun," Nguyen says, after setting the final three tables.

As players bag and tag, here's the unofficial top 5 (in millions):

1. Yanick Brodeur (Montreal, Canada) 3
2. Frank Calo (Liverpool, NY) 2.1
3. Ray Henson (Houston, TX) 1.9
4. Maurice Hawkins (Tamarac, FL) 1.9
5. Jeremy Brown (Medford, NJ) 1.75

A more detailed list can be found at worldpokertour.com.

The average stack is 1.1 million.
