2002 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Robert Varkonyi is out the door on one of the first hands of Day 2. He only has 25k to start, less than half of the average stack. The disappointing finish means he'll be home awaiting the return of his wife Olga, who's conspicuously absent from this year's Poker Open.

"It's the first time we've been apart in years," says Varkonyi, "it's strange not having her around." Olga's currently in Lipetsk, Russia (300 miles south of Moscow), returning to her roots for a cousin's wedding.

"It's a great trip for her and the kids. They've grown up bilingual so to go to a different place, with different food and to immerse themselves in the language is a great experience."

The Varkoyni's have had success at Borgata over the years, Robert finished second in Event #5 of the Summer Open, while Olga's had several cashes, including in the 2009 Winter Open 1k, Event #4.

"She'd really like to be here, but family comes first."

Level 12 (600/1,200/100 ante) continues.
